It was a dream come true for children at a Bronx high school. Never did they, not even in their wildest dreams, imagine that they would play host to Britney Spears. When they were told that they would have a very special guest the coming week, none believed the rumour that the megastar will walk in through their school gate. They did pinch themselves to believe when it really happened.
Excited youngsters of John Philip Sousa MS 142 School excitedly greeted the pop actress as she dropped in at their school last Wednesday. Her visit was to hand over a cheque of $10,000 for the school’s music programme. Her perfume company sponsored this truly fragrant move.
The bright music students of the school gave her a deserving welcome. The choir and orchestra were splendid. “When you’re ready to take us on the road for an opening act, we’re ready,” Sal Mazzola, the director of the school’s music program, told the smiling pop star. “You’ll be the first people I call,” came the quick-witted Britney’s answer.
The blonde star looked fresh and was all smiles. Her smile did bring many smiles on the faces of the students. Apparently not a bit of tension could be seen even as Adnan is refuting the existence of sex tapes.
This was her third visit to New York City. The twenty six year old Britney, who announced her interest to conduct the next tour on Z100 radio on Monday, presented the Elizabeth Arden cheque. The company, which markets her perfumes- Believe, Fantasy and Curious, contributed the money in order to support the school’s one-year-old music program.
“I couldn’t say anything – it’s Britney. I was shell-shocked,” said one ecstatic pupil. Her visit was indeed an amusing surprise for her little fans who had all bothered to come to the school despite it being a Jewish holiday on account of Rosh Hashanah.
