A woman attains menopause when she reaches the end of her period of possible sexual reproduction. It is marked by the termination of her menstrual cycle. During this period, a series of emotional and physical changes occurs within her body. If not properly taken care of, it will result in serious consequences. Strict adherence to a healthy diet will enable you to overcome the irregularities with ease.

Hot flushes are the most severe of problems that are associated with menopause. It can effectively controlled by increasing the intake of foods that are rich in Vitamin E rich such as wheat, nuts, eggs and olive oil. Phytoestrogens, a plant extract is also found to reduce the severity of hot flushes. This substance is found in soybeans and alfalfa sprouts. Grains such as oats, barley, brown rice corn, whole wheat etc are also good sources of phytoestrogens. Osteoporosis, a condition caused by fragile bones, is another menace that peeps out during the post menopause period. A diet that supplies Vitamin A, Vitamin D, calcium, phosphorous and magnesium will bring the disorder under control.

Fish, drumstick leaves, ragi and dairy products are abundant in calcium. It is wise to avoid tea and coffee since they promote the excretion of calcium. Women are likely to put on weight after menopause. To check the weight gain you need to decrease the intake of fat rich dairy products. Saturated fats as those found in butter, cheese and ghee need to be completely discarded. Spicy foods like pickles, chocolate, alcoholic drinks and refined products also need to be avoided. Juice of vegetables such as carrot and beetroot is found to be beneficial during this period. Ensure that your diet is a well balanced one which contains all the required food factors in the precise measure. Regular exercise along with vitamin supplements will also help women to effectively tackle the problems posed by menopause. These tips if strictly followed, are sure to help women enjoy their life even after the attainment of menopause.
