Head massage has always considered as an important and easy technique to make mind tension and stress free. It has played a significant role in human life and head massage dates back its history nearly 4,000 years as described in some of the most ancient medical texts such as Ayurveda. An intermixture of warm oil and herbs massaged in gentle strokes onto the scalp has accounted for women’s long and lustrous hair, the feature that has brought women in much admiration within social circle!

Even today, in many parts of the world, head massage technique is still an integral part of cosmetic for women and stress relieving for men. There are many techniques through which, head massage can be performed. However, typical head massage generally begins with the upper back. Here, the massage is a combination of deep massage onto pressure points that help relaxing the muscles and help loosening and melting the stubborn knots.

The massage then moves through the shoulders and upper extremities further releasing the common spots that hold distress and tension. It is then to be worked deeply into the neck wherein the tension lies. If performed in said manner, head massage relieves headache and improves the entire blood circulation and also balance cerebral spinal fluid circulation. The masseur then moves up to the scalp and uses the techniques that help stimulating, relaxing and reviving the entire structure of the head. This, in turn, increases circulation and promotes healthy hair. The head massage is generally finished with gentle face massage with particular strokes. This again, helps in circulation, skin toning, and improving any sinus problems and wrinkles.

All in all, head massage is very beneficial in many ways. To summarize, head massage can…

• Dissolves toxins accumulated in the head and make them to drain out of body
