How celery juice favours weight loss

Celery juice is extremely nutritious and is rated as one of the most hydrating drinks to which our body can be exposed at home. It is a healthy supplement with unique medicinal qualities. The minerals, vitamins and other nutrients are found in perfect harmony in celery.

While the leaves of celery are high in Vitamin A, its stems are an excellent source of other vital vitamins such as B1, B2, B6 and C. The mineral salts present in celery include potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, phosphorus and sodium. The presence of essential amino acids and folic acid make it all the more nutritionally enhanced.

Celery juice is also rich in the concentration of plant hormones. It also contains certain beneficial essential oils. The plant owes its smell to the presence of these essential oils. The natural oils are found to be helpful in regulating the nervous system. It also provides a soothing effect to the entire body.

The sodium that is present in celery deserves special mention. Unlike the sodium that is present in table salt, sodium in celery is devoid of harmful insoluble inorganic compounds that lead to the development of varicose veins. The sodium present in celery is soluble and organic in nature and thereby does not lead to hardening of the arteries and other resultant aliments.

Organic salt present in celery helps in the easy absorption of other vital nutrients that reaches the body through food. Celery juice is provided to athletes, as it is a natural drink that prevents dehydration.

Celery is known to host eight different families of anti-cancer compounds. Certain compounds such as phonolic acids present in celery extracts effectively prevents the development of cancerous tumours. Coumarins, yet another phytonutrient present in celery help in the prevention of free radicals from damaging the cells and also check the formation colon and abdominal cancers.

Studies also indicate that celery juice is also effective in reducing the level of the bad cholesterol, LDL, in the body. Celery also favours the increased secretion of the bile acid and thereby helps in minimising the cholesterol level.
