How good can be Brussels sprouts
Brussels sprouts are likely to be native to Brussels, Belgium. Many people love it for its cabbage-like appearance and versatile nature. Of course, some strongly detest its sulphur-like smell and others hate it for its bitterness. They help in preventing the production of breast cancer cells and also inhibit the progress of pre-cancerous cells in liver and colon. Another major benefit of taking Brussels sprouts is that DNA damage gets decreased. Brussels Sprouts also make you less prone to bladder, lung and ovarian cancers.
Brussels sprouts have the power to enhance the quality of your skin. They are sure to ward off infections since they are rich in nutrients. Brussels sprouts are granaries of vitamins and mineral salts such as Vitamin A, beta-carotene, Vitamin C, vitamin K, folate, manganese, fiber, potassium, vitamin B6, thiamin, phosphorous, protein, magnesium iron, riboflavin, Vitamin E, copper and calcium.
Makes sure that Brussels sprouts are not over-cooked. They need only be light cooked or even steamed. Steaming will help in retaining the much-required phytonutrients present in the vegetable and will also enhance their availability to the body. A delicious recipe can be made from Brussels sprouts by seasoning the steamed vegetable with pepper, salt, and butter. You can also try the same with balsamic vinegar or olive oil. If well cooked and properly seasoned, roasted Brussels sprouts can be used as a good alternative for a salty holiday snack.
