How good is flaxseed to health
Flaxseed and its oil is associated with many a health solutions. Flaxseed is rich in alpha-linoleic acid. This acid gets converted into the highly beneficial omega-3 fatty acids within the body. Flaxseed and its oil is found to lower the level of cholesterol considerably.
Flaxseed is found to make a positive impact on women suffering from menopausal disorders. Studies indicate that the intake of forty grams of flaxseed makes an effect similar to that caused by hormone therapy inside the body.
Hot flashes and night sweats, the characteristic features of menopause, are fund to be effectively brought under control by flaxseed. Flaxseed is also found to help those suffering from digestive disorders such as constipation. Flaxseed is found to contain soluble fiber.
In people with lupus, flaxseed helps in enhancing the smooth functioning of the kidneys. However it is important to take a doctor’s advise before taking supplements if you happen to be under treatment. Research is being done to analyze the role played by flaxseed in the treatment of old age ailments such as diabetes and osteoporosis.
There is no set rule regarding the dosage of flaxseed to be taken. It varies depending on the particular body type and nature of the disorder. However, flaxseeds can be taken along with some liquid or victuals such as muffins or bread.
Flaxseed oil is now being used as a salad dressing, although it is not good to be used directly for cooking. If you wish to take flaxseed as a health supplement, capsules and tonics are available at all drug stores. Like almost all other health supplements, flaxseed should be kept in a cool and dry place away from direct sun exposure.
However, too much of anything is harmful. If taken in excess quantities, flaxseed has the potential to cause abdominal ailments such as diarrhea, cramping, gas, and bloating. If high does of flaxseed is not taken along with adequate amounts of water, severe constipation is likely.

Flax seed is great for you but I think you should consider fish oil or krill oil if you want to increase your good omega 3’s DHA and EPA. The ALA found in Flax seed is supposed to be inefficient at converting to DHA and EPA. Flax seed however is excellent for you if you grind it right before eating. It has great levels of fiber. Fiber is great and can keep things moving. Flax seed also contains Lignans which have been implicated in anti cancer and other health benefits. So increase your flax seed intake but think about fish and krill oil for increasing your good omega 3’s
