How Lifestyle Affects Our Immunity Level

Immune system can be compared to a battalion of microscopic that is engaged in constant efforts to prevent illness. These microscopic agents, called white blood cells, fight against all sort of invading foreign particles.

By sticking to a healthy life pattern, we can effectively maintain our immune system in good health. A varied and balanced diet and regular exercises help in boosting the immunity level. Studies indicate that certain victuals are particularly helpful in maintaining a strengthened immunity system.

It should be ensured that the daily diet contains nutrients such as Vitamin C, vitamin E, bioflavenoids, carotenoids and omega-3 fatty acids. In order to ensure the rich supply of these nutrients citrus fruits, broccoli, nuts, vegetable oils, whole grains, fresh fruits, green vegetables, carrots, yams and fish varieties such as salmon, tuna, mackerel etc should be necessarily included in the daily diet.

For the maintenance of a healthy immune system, certain minerals are also required. Zinc and selenium tops the list of such beneficial elements. Victuals such as beef, turkey, beans, oysters, crab will meet the body requirement of zinc. Chicken, mushroom, whole grains, tuna, red snapper, lobster, shrimp, garlic, egg yolks, sunflower seeds and brown rice are considered to be rich sources of selenium.

It is always advisable to supply the body with needed nutrients through the food that you take in, rather than relying on supplements. Human body is able to absorb more nutrients effectively from the food when compared to supplements. It is important to seek medical aid before using vitamin supplementary pills to boost your immunity level. Extreme care should be taken, as over dosage of certain nutrients will do more harm to the body tan good.

Hygienic habits such as washing the hands thoroughly and often with soap and warm water will help in protecting the body from the entry of harmful microbes. It is also important to cook all food materials to their required measure before eating. Cooking food materials such as meat helps in killing the bacteria present in them, which will otherwise upset our digestive rhythm.
