How nutritious food helps in minimising wrinkles

Wrinkles, sure is an inevitable aspect of aging. But, all of us, both men and women, are born with the instinct to hate them. In case of reducing wrinkles, the golden rule is prevention is better than cure. Preventing wrinkles from making their appearance on your skin surface is the best thing you can do to avoid them. The most important step to make in this regard is to protect the skin from ultraviolet radiation of the sun. Exposure to the deadly powerful UV rays for a relatively longer period is sure to make the skin sag and discoloured.

Applying the right moisturiser, using a good sunscreen lotion, spending less time outdoors, and cleansing your skin daily are a few steps that help in maintaining youthful skin. But all these efforts will be fruitful only if they are protected from within. Nutritious food is sure to make a drastic difference in the way you look.

Skin-friendly victuals include green vegetables, beans, olive oil, nuts and multigrain breads. These food materials are found to help in minimising skin wrinkling. On the other hand, stuffs that make a negative impact on your skin surface include red meat, butter and sugary foods.

Antioxidant vitamins such as A, C, and E together with beneficial elements like zinc and selenium are also found to work wonders on the skin surface. They minimise wrinkles by reducing the extent of damage caused by the hazardous free radicals. Recent studies indicate that certain antioxidants are even capable of saving the skin from the damages caused by ultra violet radiation of the sun.

It is advisable for light-skinned people to take in a diet that is abundant in carotenoids. Such a practice contributes to healthy skin colouring. So for that youthful radiance even as you age, stick to
carotenoid-rich foods such as apricots, carrots, sweet potatoes, cantaloupe, spinach and other fresh and colourful fruits and vegetables.
