How to keep away from water-borne infections
Most of us have fallen vitamins to the water-borne infections at some stage of our lives. However hard we try, sometimes the water that we drink results in certain ailments. This is extremely true when we travel since at times, we will be forced to take the risk of exposing our body to unhygienic water sources.
However, whenever possible it should be ensured that we do not let infectious water to enter our body. It is extremely important to ensure that water in the swimming pools do not get swallowed during the exercise session. It is likely that water in such public areas is inadequately chlorinated and breeds the germs of many a dangerous disease.
Though hard, it is always advisable to resist the temptation to drink water from cool springs and brooks that are found during hiking sessions. The water in such streams may appear top be crystal-clear to the naked eye. The clarity should not deceive you to believe that they are absolutely free from harmful germs. In fact, such open streams are sure to harbor hazardous parasites, bacteria, and viruses.
To be on the safe side, drink only boiled water. Never hesitate to carry bottled water with you, wherever you go. The process of sterilizing water by heating it to the required temperature is termed pasteurization. Named after the great scientist, Louis Pasteur, this process of pasteurization helps in destroying the harmful bacteria.
Unsafe drinking water is found to be the most common cause of Cryptosporidium infection. This disorder relates to a condition of severe diarrhea. It is also accompanied by other bodily disorders such as nausea, fever and abdominal cramping.
People, whose immune system has been weakened due to some or other ailment, should strictly ensure that they drink only pasteurized water. It is because unsafe water is most likely to make their already weak body vulnerable to various pathogens and result in further complications.
