How to prevent yeast infection
If you were exposed to yeast infection once, you are sure not to want it again. But, unfortunately, yeast infections often tends to reoccur. A vaginal yeast infection relates to the condition in which too many yeast cells grow inside the vagina. Most yeast infections are caused by a type of yeast called Candida albicans. Here are a few useful tips that minimises your chance of being infected again.
It is advisable to take a daily supplement that is exclusively designed to check the recurrence of a yeast infection. The vaginal area should be kept clean and hygienic. Make sure that the area is washed well as you shower. Before getting into your underclothes, ensure that the vaginal area has been wiped clean and dry with a neat towel. Ensure that no moisture is left behind as it is likely to breed infectious germs.
As far as possible, wear only cotton underpants. It is important that you do not share your towel and other toilet accessories with others. Under clothes should be washed strictly in hot water. Clothing that is tight in the crotch should be avoided.
The first thing to do as you come after your swimming or exercise session is changing the drenched clothes. During the menstrual periods, ensure that you change the sanitary pads or tampons whenever required. It is better to keep way from soaps and perfumes that are heavily scented.
The diet that you take in should be high in nutritious elements. Include more whole grains and fresh vegetables in your diet. Always go for water soluble lubricating gel during sexual intercourse. You should avoid sex whenever it is painful. If you are suffering from chronic yeast infections and are using hormonal contraceptives, consult your doctor to consider changing the particular birth control method. A precise medical diagnosis is essential as other disorders such as like bacterial vaginosis and trichomoniasis also cause vaginal symptoms that are similar to yeast infection.
