“Grey’s Anatomy” star Katherine Heigl has made it clear that she is willing to stay with the ABC medical drama. However, her decision stands good only if the show decides to keep her character around. It was at the studio party which was hosted to mark the show’s 100th episode that Heigl announced her assent.
The future of her character now is left with the series creator Shonda Rhimes. “I don’t know if I live or die. I don’t know how Izzie fares,” said the actress.
Heigl also added that time has not yet come to consider that her days as Dr. Izzie Stevens are numbered. Thus, she has put an end to the speculations that she is planning to leave the show for doing films full-time. She was actually grateful for being allowed to balance the series with her film career.
“I was assuming that at one point and I got a lot of shrugged shoulders and shakes of the head, so I don’t know if that’s a yes or a no. No one will tell me and I don’t know how this is going to go,” that is exactly how Heigl responded to Shonda Rhimes’ passion for creating plot secrecy.
Katherine Heigl has been playing the character of Dr. Izzie Stevens since the show began back in 2005. She said that she will be part of the show as long as her character Izzie remains part of it. She called the set of the show as “one of my favorite places to be” and described all her colleagues as her friends.
Along with Heigl, her fellow cast members, including Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey, actively took part in the celebration that included a remarkable cake decorated with scalpels and syringes that were made out of icing.
Rhimes, who is also functioning as an executive producer for the show, said the show crossing its hundredth episode was a milestone. He called it a “huge accomplishment” and did not forget to thank the cast and crew for their sincere efforts.
