What are the symptoms of Hepatitis B infection
Hepatitis is a disorder that is characterized by the inflammation of the liver. Hepatitis is mostly caused by the increased intake of alcohol, use of certain drugs and chemicals and also by infection. Hepatitis B is one of the many forms of hepatitis.
This kind of infection is generally caused by the Hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis B is found to be one of the most common sexually transmitted infections (STIs) in the world. Most children and up to half of the adults who are infected with hepatitis B do not show any symptom during the first stage of infection.
They seldom fall sick nor are they likely to develop jaundice, which is a common ailment, associated with most liver diseases. However, some others who are infected with this virus fall terribly sick and even get hospitalized.
The early signs of Hepatitis B infection include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, body pain, general fatigue, fever and weakness. These initial symptoms are followed by secondary symptoms such as yellowed skin patches, dark colored urine and pale-colored stools. In some people, eye whites are also found to turn yellow in color.
Extreme care should be taken to prevent the transmission of body fluids, in order to prevent the occurrence of Hepatitis B infection. Safe sex with a single partner is the most effective means of prevention. It is always advisable to use condoms while you have vaginal or anal sex.
The usage of water-based lubricant along with condoms is highly recommended. While practicing oral sex, it is important to ensure that the male partner is wearing a condom.
It is always better for both men and women to use dental dams if you are bringing your mouth in contact with your partner’s genital areas while having sex. Preventive vaccinations are also available for checking the possibility of Hepatitis B occurrence well in advance.
