What is emotional eating

Emotional eating” has become an eating disorder of epidemic proportions.  It involves a whole set of habits that share a common thread, i.e., the intake of food as a response to certain feelings other than hunger. It is found that a wide range of factors make one eat emotionally. Emotional eating deprives one of essential nutrients. The consumption of a poor diet leads to the diminished presence of mood-boosting neurotransmitters.

Good nutrition is essential for the maintaining optimum health. It should be kept in mind that you are actually what you eat. In order to maintain your digestive system in proper working condition, it is important that it is provided with healthy food. Body will naturally crave for only those victuals that you supply it with. Of you give it sugary victuals, it will demand more sugar. If you shift to fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, your body will gradually start craving for such healthy foods.

A right exercise regimen is yet another factor that helps the body is regulating its appetite by boosting the metabolism processes. Studies indicate that even minimal exercise will make a positive impact on the body.

It is found that negative emotions fuel overeating and poor food choices. It is not a right practise to consider food as a reward or compensation. Eating should not be considered as a forceful activity. Food should be viewed in its right sense: the fuel which provides your body with essential energy required for all your activities. It is essential that you share a positive relationship with the food that you take in.
